Junior Achievement’s 18 Under Eighteen: Celebrating 5 Years, 90 Young Leaders & Opening 2027 Nominations

 

Junior Achievement of Western Pennsylvania (JA) proudly celebrated the 5th anniversary of its 18 Under Eighteen youth leadership program, a signature recognition initiative that has honored 90 outstanding young innovators, creators, and changemakers since its launch. This milestone event marks five years of spotlighting students who are transforming their communities—and we’re thrilled to announce that nominations for the 2027 18 Under Eighteen class are officially open.

This annual program, presented by the EQT Foundation, recognizes young leaders who excel in areas such as social entrepreneurship, STEM innovation, disability inclusion, community advocacy, AI ethics, public health, sustainability, and more.

 

 

 

Recognition Reception

The 2026 recognition, hosted at the UPMC Club at Acrisure Stadium, brought together students, families, educators, corporate partners, and community leaders for an unforgettable night of celebration and inspiration.
Ki Ki Brown from WAMO 107.3 emceed the event for a second year in a row, and featured speakers included:

  • Rebekah Kcehowski, Attorney, Jones Day and JA Board Chair
  • BeNeca Griffin, International Speaker, Author, Branding Specialist, Producer, and CEO of Moments of Focus LLC
